A new co-production from Huayi Brothers and Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation called A City in Love (Quancheng Relian) will premiere on February 11 next year, according to December 1 press conferences in Beijing and Hong Kong. The film will follow three separate but interlinked love stories. It stars popular mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan actors, including the members of the pop group BOBO, Daniel Wu, Vivian Hsu and Barbie Hsu.

The China Electronics Standardization Association released a draft industry standard for Internet TV sets for public comment one month ago, according to Gao Yabin, assistant secretary general of the China Video Professionals Association. The final version of the standard will be released next year after it passes through the relevant procedures at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Internet TV sets, otherwise known as Web TV, provide users with access to online content.

Walt Disney has announced the start of production on Disney High School Musical: China, a co-production with local partners Huayi Brothers and Shanghai Media Group (SMG).The film is Disney's third co-production in 2 years and has been in under development for one year. The film is slated for release in summer 2010.

The General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) has released a plan for the development of China's book publishing industry in 2010, according to China Press and Publication Journal. The plan urges publishers to focus on events such as the Shanghai World Expo and the Asian Games next year. It also instructs them to focus on publishing books on China's history, culture and economy for local and foreign readers.
- Hengdian Studios to Co-Produce Martial Arts Film with AMPCO11/26/2009 - 09:23
Hengdian World Studios will partner up with Hong Kong’s Salon Films and the AMPCO Films from Australia to co-produce a martial arts film called The Last Dragon: Search for the Lost Pearl (Xun Long Duobao), according to a November 23 press conference. The film will feature an international cast, with Australian actor Sam Neill joining Hong Kong's Jordan Chan and mainland actress Wang Ji. Hengdian has signed an agreement to co-produce four more films with AMPCO Films, but the titles have yet to be finalized.
