- Disney and SMG to Launch Second Season of The Amazing Race: China Rush10/21/2010 - 05:56
Disney Media Distribution has announced that Shanghai Media Group (SMG) renewed its agreement to produce a second season of The Amazing Race: China Rush in 2011. The Amazing Race: China Rush is a reality TV series, adapted from the American reality TV series The Amazing Race.
It features 10 teams of two, each with a pre-existing relationship, in a race across 11 cities in China to win a world tour provided by Travelzen.
The International Channel Shanghai (ICS) under SMG acquired the rights to produce the series for its territories. The show was produced by Shanghai based production company Fly Films and launched on ICS at 8:00pm on August 8, 2010.

October 14 saw International Chinese Network, an American Chinese TV media company, launch its San Francisco English Channel broadcasting round-the-clock information programs featuring Chinese culture, finance, news, travel, food and education.
ICN, the former International Audio-Visual Communication (IAVC) in US, was founded in 1980. As of June 1, 2010, China’s Beauty Media completed the acquisition of IAVC. To date, ICN has 16 TV channels, covering approximately 70 million people in America.

Zhejiang TV International has completed coverage of the whole of Europe through the Great Wall TV Package via the IPTV platform of KyLin TV. Since August 2006, Zhejiang TV International has covered more 40 countries in Europe, North America, South America and Asia.
- Creative Power Entertaining Exports Animation Series to 52 Countries10/21/2010 - 05:53
China's animated TV series Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf (Xiyangyang Yu Huitailang) are expected to launch on Disney’s pay TV channels in 52 countries, according to a contract signed on October 18 between producer Creative Power Entertaining and Disney’s distribution department, Buena Vista International (BVI).
BVI have 3-year broadcast rights for the latest 100-episodes according to the contract. Disney will dub Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf into more than 10 languages.
Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf has broadcast more than 700 episodes on TV since 2005. The film of the same title was released at the beginning of this year, and has made about RMB130 million (US$20 million) at the box office, a record in China’s domestic animation history.
- Shanghai Launches VOD Service for Next Generation Broadcasting Networks10/21/2010 - 05:51
October 14 saw video-on-demand service based on Next-generation Broadcasting (NGB) networks launch in Shanghai. Actually, Oriental Cable Network (OCN) and Shanghai Interactive Television (SiTV) under Shanghai Media Group (SMG) have jointly constructed the pilot NGB platform and launched new services on trial, such as VOD, audio and video value-added services, HD and 3D in recent years. To date, NGB networks in Shanghai cover 500,000 households and are expected to reach 1 million households at the end of 2010.
In addition to Shanghai, Wuhan and Chongqing are also engaged in NGB network construction and launch of related services on trial.
