The “Empress of China” drama series which was earlier pulled off television under SAPPRFT order for a few weeks in order to be re-edit to include less cleavage, was the top viewed series across television stations in China for the second week of January with a 2.58 rating on Hunan TV and 1.14 rating on Zhejiang TV. In a rare public statement about the event, SAPPRFT Vice Minister Tian Jin noted the edits were made as otherwise the series "was bad for the healthy growth of young people."
The series was the second most watched on VOD platforms falling behind online fiction adaption “Silent Separation.”
