Local reports have Chinese film and TV industry regulator the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film & TV (SAPPRFT) creating a ‘blacklist’ of talent for China’s film and TV industry. According to the reports, any directors, scriptwriters, actors or other crew that have criminal records shall be banned from working on any film and TV productions.

The circular apparently notes three different levels of offenses leading to bans.

Level A (the most serious) includes drug taking and/or possession and prostitution. Level B includes fighting, drunk-driving and gambling while level C seems to only include extra-marital affairs. Those subject to a “Level A ban” are banned for life, while those with a B or C designation may later removed from the banned list.

The circular also lists specific names to be banned including Huang Haibo (actor: arrested for soliciting prostitutes), Wang Quan’an (film director: arrested for soliciting prostitutes), Ke Zhendong (actor: arrested for drug possession), Gao Hu (actor: arrested for drug possession), Wen Zhang (actor: publically outed for having extra-marital affairs), Li Daimo (Singer from Season 1 of The Voice: arrested for drug possession) and Fang Zuming (Jackie Chan’s son: arrested for drug possession).

According to the reports, the circular goes on to note that those on the list should not appear as guests on talk shows either.
