CMM-I has been the official China Representative for German Films since 2007.

The services provided by CMM-I to German Films and its member companies range from promoting German Films in China, jointly attending Chinese TV and Film events and festivals as well as consulting services.

The cooperation is aimed at enabling a comprehensive flow of information on the Chinese film industry. At the same time German Films and CMM-I are working to increase the awareness and distribution of German Films into the Chinese market as well as intensify networking business opportunities between the German and Chinese film industries.

CHINA ACTIVITIES & EVENTS

German Films Screening in Beijing

The German Films Screenings are a new initiative made possible by the German Embassy School in cooperation with German Films, the promoter of new German film talent worldwide. We plan to showcase contemporary German film culture with monthly screenings in a modern school audtorium that seats more than 200 people.

German Films at Shanghai International Film Festival

June 2009 saw the 5th FOCUS GERMANY at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF). Over the years FOCUS GERMANY, which showcases 10-15 German films in Shanghai movie theatres each year, has become one of SIFF's must attend events, and has provided the Shanghai audience with a comprehensive overview of present German filmmaking. As part of FOCUS GERMANY at SIFF, each year a German film delegation including producers, actors and distribution companies, etc. travels to Shanghai and provides a platform for both German and Chinese film professionals to meet and exchange ideas on cooperation.

--Presenting Films:

--Opening Film:

Hilde, 2009
HILDE by Kai Wessel, was the opening film of this year's SIFF GERMAN FOCUS. Originally it premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in February and tells the story of famous German chanteuse and actress Hildegard Knef.

--German Films in competition:

A piece of me, 2009
A PIECE OF ME was another German Film selected by SIFF to run in completion for the 2009 Jin Jue Award. German Films have been very successful in Shanghai in the past. In 2006, the film 4 MINUTES won The Best Film, in 2007 ACCORDING TO THE PLAN won Best Actress and in 2008 the film MY MOTHER'S TEARS won Best Photography.

--Focus Germany SIFF Cocktail Party 2009:

FOCUS GERMANY also includes the now famous Germany Cocktail as part of SIFF in close cooperation with the German Consulate in Shanghai and SIFF. The Cocktail party is held at the beautiful private residence of the German Consulate General in the French Consession, and offers guests a chance to meet and greet a number of award winning film directors, producers and stars from Germany and around the world.

German Films at Shanghai International TV Festival

The German Films pavilion at the STVF is part of the International Pavilion organized by CMM-I, and provides German TV distribution companies as well as producers the opportunity to meet and discuss deals with Chinese TV professionals. -

--Magnolia Awards–STVF

German Films also encourages and facilitates member companies to takes part in the STVF Magnolia TV Awards. A number of German TV companies, producers and actors have won the much acclaimed awards. In 2009 WELCOME HOME won Gold Magnolia in the category of Best TV Movie; THE VISIT won The Best Screenplay; in 2008 POLAR BEAR ON CAT ICE won Silver Magnolia of Best Natural Documentary, THE RICH & THE POOR won Gold Award of Oversea Animation.
