Thank you very much for your continued support of our German Films Screenings!

We’d like to invite you to the German Films screenings at the German Embassy School Beijing at 7:30pm, on Thursday, June 10.

We are pleased to show Yella from well-known director Christian Petzold. Yella is the winner of numerous awards including Film Award in Gold at 2008 German Film Awards and the Silver Berlin Bear at 2007 Berlin International Film Festival, etc.

Yella has decided to leave her small town for a promising job and new life, leaving behind her failed marriage and broken dreams. Nothing can stop her: not even a freak car accident with her psychotic ex-husband driving on the day of her departure.

The German Films Screenings is an initiative made possible by German Films and the German Embassy School Beijing. German Films is the promoter of new German film talent worldwide. We showcase contemporary German film culture with monthly screenings free of charge at the German Embassy School Beijing in a modern school auditorium that seats more than 200 people. Films are in German with English subtitles.

Past films have included Yella, Memory, Hilde, Emma's Bliss, 20th Anniversary of Berlin Wall Screenings (including: Das Wunder Von Berlin, Stilles Land, and Novemberkind) Good Bye, Lenin, The Lives of Others, Melodies of Spring, Nothing But Ghost, And Along come Tourists, Rabbit Without Ears (detailed info please see below).

If you would like to attend, please download the invitation here. You will need to bring the invitation plus some form of photo ID to the screening as the school is in an embassy area. We will provide you with a membership card in the auditorium to facilitate your entry at future screenings.
